Where to find good and uplifting transgender news
CDL has a continuously updated news feed with positive transgender news stories and articles.
Trans people can get more than a little overwhelmed these days, as extremists — being those Putin, JK Rowling or Trump — have decided to make trans people the scapegoats of everything that is bad in the world.
We have seen these tactics used before, as in the persecution of people of color, independent women, gay men and women, Jews etc.
The Fascists, religious fanatics and TERFs appeal to people’s fear of the unknown, and encourage the fearful to redirect their anxieties and their anger towards someone who definitely do not deserve it.
Right now that also leads to transphobic, oppressive and stigmatizing legislation in countries like the US, the UK, Russia, Hungary and Uganda.
The harm done is real, but the noise also threatens to cancel all the good news that is out there, news that shows that for every loss, trans people can also report wins.
This is why we have established a newsfeed for positive transgender news over at the CDL forum for gender variance. So far we have posted over 500 links to positive and uplifting news about transgender and gender nonconforming people, going back to April this year.
The situation is not hopeless. Trans people are strong and resourceful and we have many good allies.
