Trans-positive social media campaign takes off: #TransAndThriving
A trans positive hashtag has become a hit on twitter. This is a grassroot campaign aimed at showing tall that transgender people are often thriving, in spite of the transphobia.
The threads have been filled with great photos and positive life stories.
The campaign was started by Norwegian trans activist Christine Marie Jentoft and some of her friends, using the hashtag #TransOgTrives (#TransAndThriving in English).
The goal was clearly to create a constructive and helpful counterpoint to all the negative news about trans people. We must not forget that for a lot of transgender people life is getting better, and that many of them thrive in their new lives.
